Telangana: Asaduddin Owaisi Calls for AIMPLB Protest Against Waqf Act

Hyderabad ( Telangana ) [ India ], April 13 ( ANI ): The Member of Parliament from Hyderabad stated that AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi On Sunday, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board announced that AIMPLB ) will hold a public protest meeting against the Waqf (Amendment) Act .

At the press conference, he declared a demonstration would take place on April 19 from 7 PM to 10 PM in Darussalam, Hyderabad. He mentioned that the protest meeting would be led by him. AIMPLB President Khalid Saifullah Rahmani

A public demonstration meeting is being arranged by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board as a response to the Waqf (Amendment) Act 2025 on 19th April from 7 pm to 10 pm in Hyderabad Darussalam. It will be presided over by the President of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Khalid Saifullah Rahmani," said AIMIM Chief.

Owaisi mentioned that representatives from the Muslim Personal Law Boards of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, as well as leading Muslim organizations from these regions, will take part and speak at the event, emphasizing their involvement. Waqf (Amendment) Act does not serve the purpose of Waqf properties.

During this public demonstration, representatives from the Muslim Personal Law Board of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as well as prominent Muslim organizations in these regions will be present. Through their addresses, they aim to convey to the audience that Waqf (Amendment) Act is not in favour of the Waqf. We are also trying to talk to the members of the Waqf Committee, and if their schedule permits, they can also come and participate in the public meeting...," he said.

Clashes broke out in Jangipur and various parts of West Bengal such as Amtala, Suti, Dhuliyan, Murshidabad, and North 24 Parganas due to violent demonstrations. Waqf (Amendment) Act , causing damage to public assets. A Muslim group in Siliguri and students from Aliah University in Kolkata likewise staged protests, calling for the central government to revoke the Act.

On April 4, the Rajya Sabha approved the Bill, garnering 128 votes in support and 95 against. In contrast, following an extensive discussion, the Lok Sabha endorsed the legislation with 288 representatives voting in favor and 232 opposed.

On April 5, President Droupadi Murmu approved the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, legislation that was enacted during the Budget session of Parliament.

The Waqf (Amendment) Act In 2025, the aim is to enhance the administration of waqf assets, strengthen key participants, boost the effectiveness of surveys, registrations, and case resolution procedures, and develop waqf resources. (ANI)
