The government of Ogun State has announced that it will be closing the Olumo Rock tourist site in Abeokuta starting on Monday.
According to a declaration made by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, the provisional shutdown aims to facilitate the refurbishment and modernization of the premises.
Fagbayi stated that the development was part of a broader commitment to revamp one of the state’s most iconic tourist destinations, improve visitors’ experience and ensure safety measures during the renovation.
He mentioned that Olumo Rock attracted more than 70,000 tourists and visitors each year, emphasizing that it required an appropriate appearance.
"The state government has expressed regret to all tourists, visitors, and the general public for any disruptions this development may bring," he said.
