Colombo, April 11 — The Sri Lanka Railways Department has stated that special train services will begin from today (11) onwards. These additional trains aim to assist those traveling back to their home villages for the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year festivities.
The department has stated that an extra ten trains have been arranged for the holiday season. These include a service departing from Colombo Fort to Badulla at 7:30 PM, which will be followed by a reverse trip from Badulla back to Colombo Fort. Additionally, there will be a direct train leaving from Colombo Fort to Galle at 7:20 PM, complemented by another going from Galle back to Colombo Fort.
A total of 31 special train trips are scheduled during the New Year and extended holiday weekends to facilitate easier travel for everyone.
Moreover, the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has verified that an adequate number of buses will be dispatched nationwide to cater to the rise in passenger numbers expected during the holiday season.
