Beloved 2000s Film Is Getting a Series: Fans Are Split!

"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is set to be transformed into a TV series for Amazon Prime Video.

The action-adventure movie, which came out in 2000, was adapted from the novel by Wang Dulu with the same title.

According to Variety The series' synopsis states: "Set against breathtaking backdrops and featuring incredible stunts, 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' revolves around Shu Lien and Mu Bai—two fated martial artists who wrestle with an illicit romance alongside societal changes. They must choose whether to uphold traditional ways or venture into a new era side by side."

Jason Ning will act as the writer for this project. Additionally, he will take on an executive producer role alongside Ron D. Moore, Maril Davis, Johnny Levin, Roy Lee, Hong Wang, Qin Wang, and Ying Lou. The production company responsible for bringing this to life is Sony Pictures Television.

On Thursday, fans flocked to X to express their varied responses to the announcement, with several criticizing Hollywood for a lack of creativity.

One person bemoaned on the former version of the platform that Hollywood fails to produce original content... Twitter .

Someone else chimed in, "This ought to be considered blasphemy."

One person summed up the anticipated release with a single word: 'Disappointing.'

Some supporters adopted an optimistic viewpoint, regarding the update in a favorable manner.

The film was helmed by Ang Lee and managed to earn approximately $214 million globally, with Michelle Yeoh playing a leading part.

It received 10 Oscar nominations.

The book initially came out in the early 1940s.

Several additional literary pieces were inspired by the original work, such as "Crane Shocks Kunlun," "Precious Sword, Gilded Hairpin," "Sword Energy, Pearl Radiance," and "Iron Warrior, Silver Jug."
